Ginger is celebrating 30 years as the proprietor of Gene's Costumes. She has always loved costumes and theatre, particularly musical theatre. Some of her favorite shows she has costumed are Hello Dolly!, Wizard of Oz and Les Mis. More recent production favorites include Newsies, Spamalot, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast and
Sense and Sensibilities.
Over the years, Ginger has worked with countless schools, local businesses, talent coordinators, photographers and Community Theatre Groups. Many of Gene's Costumes' clients have been renting from Ginger for 30 years!
Ginger says about why she loves costumes, "People are always excited when they are renting or buying a costume. I feel good about providing a service that puts people in
such a good mood"!
Matt Freeman
Assistant Costumer
Matt is our go to guy for everything superhero and is our resident mascot handler. Matt has worked for Gene's Costumes intermittently for over 10 years. Need something for Cosplay? Matt is the most knowledgeable in this realm as well! And if he's not familiar with a character, he'll likely figure out a way to make you look great!
Candy and Bill Barnes
Costume repair and Zipper Master!
If it's Halloween you'll find Candy fixing costumes or making alterations and also downstairs handling Halloween costume pickup. Bill will be at the counter answering phones, telling jokes and handing out spider rings! Candy and Bill also make appearances throughout the year to help their daughter, Ginger, keep things running smoothly.
Andrea Palmer
Assistant Costumer
Andrea has also worked intermittently at Gene's Costumes for over 10 years. She and Ginger met when their children were in a production of Aladdin and the rest is history. Andrea has been involved with school and local theatre groups for many years. Andrea currently lives in Ocean City, Md. and travels throughout the year to assist Ginger with costuming shows.
